Artist Statement

Photographer Lewis Hine once said “If I could tell the story in words, I wouldn't need to lug around a camera.” This is the way I feel about my photography. The image should speak for itself; meaning is created in the eye of the viewer.

I take pictures of the things that intrigue me, textures, values, shadows, and reflections that reveal forms and layers. I like uncovering the overlooked.  I am fascinated by the seasons, snow and ice in the winter, mud and maple steam in the spring, moving water and trees in the summer and the hibernating environment in the autumn.
